Not much to report on incoming deals today.

The move for the PSG left back appears to have stalled with the news that he wants to stay and fight for his place.

That’s his decision, of course, but I can’t help but think it’s one the player might come to regret.

Nevertheless, if Celtic goes back in one more time for him don’t be surprised but we really should move on and get onto the next name down on the target list. I suspect that will be the mood inside the club right now too.

We continue to be linked with a move for Sampdoria’s French defender Omar Colley although Neil Lennon has flatly denied it, and we are, of course, awaiting further information on the move for the young winger Alfie Doughty, which James talked about yesterday.

But with no real tales of incoming transfers the rumours are all about players who might leave.

Let’s deal, first, with the Edouard stories. The latest of them have Arsenal and West Brom in the hunt. When it comes to Eddie the media is as rabid as they are over Morelos but in a different way. I don’t think he’d go to West Brom, but Arsenal … yes, of course.

They can also afford the sort of fee that may make Celtic sit up and take notice, even now, during this window.

I doubt we’d sell him anyway … but they could certainly give us something worth thinking about, and we know it.

Tom Rogic continues to generate headlines, some saying he’s staying and others speculating that the English clubs who have long admired him are ready to make their move. Maybe they will and maybe they won’t, but it would be in his best interest to go.

There is a more positive story today, and it’s in relation to the Bolingoli, who might well be off the Italy.

The media is shell-shocked at the prospect, because the club is Roma and they are a big team.

In a window where Sevco can’t get rid of its best players we might well be on the way to shifting a guy who is not going to play for us again and who the press has spent months telling us isn’t that good anyway. And he could be off to a top Serie A side.

No wonder they are bugging out over it.

There is one story today about us trying to sign a player, one new name.

It’s Bright Osayi-Samuel, from QPR. He’s a young winger. He would be available on a free, or for a low-ball cross border fee. There might be something in the story, but the press is trying to turn it into a battle between us and the Ibrox club. Who would win that battle?

We would. Of course we would. If we wanted him badly enough it wouldn’t even be a race. If he’s a punt Sevco can offer more than we’re willing to pay and have him. Otherwise there’d be no contest at all. Simple as that.

When that’s the best transfer story of the day – which it is – then it’s been a slow one.
